Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
