Grief as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.

A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation grappling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before running away.

The purpose behind the incident remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, police said.

Details of the Attack

Police revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a building in the vicinity of the city center landmark.

He had spent several hours at the site managing the implementation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, as per local media.

"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report stated.

Security camera video reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the attack.

Important clues, like cartridges, were discovered at the location.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.

"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the attack, and police have been attempting to locate them to determine their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

"I am in shock. I don't have words," she said.

She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the incident, noting this was an extremely painful time, particularly for Stock's three sons.
