Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed title that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in chaos and insanity with the same glee, all while presenting engaging, socially charged narratives. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose work have represented all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game property, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a fresh setting and ensemble in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their constant confidence and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the nature of society through this multifaceted and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual bold, daring sensibility to the television.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
