Audiences are thrilled for the Stephen King adaptation Welcome to Derry, which is garnering praise and drawing from themes from other Stephen King works. Now, HBO has revealed that the next chapter will premiere ahead of schedule, released fittingly for October 31st.

Starting on October 31 at midnight PT, the second episode of It: Welcome to Derry will make its debut on the streaming service, prior to its traditional TV airing. The remaining installments of the eight-episode season will continue to air on Sundays on HBO and HBO Max, culminating in the concluding chapter on the 14th of December.

Taking place within Stephen King’s It universe, Welcome to Derry draws from the classic book while building upon the setting brought to life by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in It and It Chapter Two. The first It movie focused on young characters confronting unimaginable horrors, making it appropriate that the series follows in those footsteps. Yet, the first installment of HBO’s Welcome to Derry shows it set out to escalate the fear, providing more frightening moments than Muschietti’s films and establishing a harsh vibe for what's to come.

Taking place in the 1960s, the program introduces a different group of grown-ups and kids living in a apparently peaceful community masking a dark secret. Derry operates on a vicious, repeating pattern—defined by hostility, discrimination, and otherworldly forces, as a terrifying being resurfaces each 27-year cycle. Although Welcome to Derry might sound like it skews too close to the films initially, what differentiates the streaming show is its dual perspective—unfolding through the viewpoints of young and old simultaneously. Younger characters stay highly exposed to It's terror, but older characters aren’t spared dealing with their personal demons born from the town's ingrained prejudice and lurking supernatural forces.
