Manchester United Set to Secure Germany Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.
A Marquee Signing for United
Schüller, who has half a year left on her contract, has been a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 caps for Germany. Her arrival will be seen as a major signing for the WSL team.
Departure from Bayern has been anticipated since she appeared to be holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top forwards. According to multiple sources, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.
Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen United's Forward Line
The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major boost to United’s attacking options. Schüller has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

The acquisition of Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club seem to be building positive momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes include qualifying for the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since arriving in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s extension, a senior figure commented: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”
Lundkvist, who has arrived from a club in the NWSL, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
