Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United only half a year after instigating disrespectful taunts directed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's lengthy time with Leeds concluded by mutual consent this past summer.

One of the player's final notable acts while at Leeds was to lead insulting chants about Chris Wilder during Leeds' success festivities in April. Now, the one-cap England player is set to play for Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to rescue the team he loves out of the drop zone.

Previous History Between the Striker and Wilder

The pair had previous conflict prior to Leeds moved up back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager called Bamford as a "muppet" when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and the Blades secured direct promotion while Leeds United missed out in the playoffs.

Reconciliation and Looking Ahead

All seems has been put behind them with United, the league's lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost up front while Bamford aiming to revive his career.

The Wilder chant went viral this spring. A repentant Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, called Wilder the following day.

Chris Wilder said back then: “Spoke with Patrick recently and I have no issue at all with it. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! However I valued and respected him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel too and had a longer discussion together and he is a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we used to dish it out and accept it and that’s part and parcel of football across all levels, including Sunday league. I have no problem at all. I am cool with it and I said that to Patrick.”

Recent Playing Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Boro player has faced difficulties with injury over the past few seasons.
