Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their first World Series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, making him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that situation other than George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.
"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we finished on the losing end of this game," he remarked.
The Blue Jays secured the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
